The Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation and Sanctuary
Centre Located
in the east Malaysian state of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, this centre was founded
in 1964. It encompasses an area of approximately 43 sq. kilometers.
The primary aim of this centre is to look after young orang utan orphans,
preparing them for adulthood and readying them for life in the wilds. Today,
Sepilok is home to about 80 orang utans.
Catch your early
morning flight to Sandakan. Upon arrival, proceed overland to Sepilok Orang
Utan Rehabilitation Centre. You will be required to register before proceeding
to the feeding platform where you will have a very close encounter with man’s
nearest “relative”.
Continue your journey
with a tour of Sandakan city with is visits to a Malay fishing village, Chinese
temple and culminating with a stop at the Observation Point where you can have
a full panoramic view of Sandakan Bay and its enclave. At 1600Hrs, proceed back
to the airport for your flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
